Caught the bus to Bridgwater (free bus passes for over 60s are very useful) and walked to the Merry Monk - about 7 miles. Slightly revised my opinion of Bridgwater, having now walked through the middle, where there is a pleasant precinct and a pretty church. Then, to put it simply, it was a slog along the A38 all the way - the one advantage being a roadside snack bar, about half way, that did a superb bacon butty and mug of tea!
Weather fine - sunny with the odd light shower. Lucky me! I hear it's been horrendous elsewhere. However, I'm also told it's moving this way again. Let's hope for the best! Through Taunton and towards Wellington tomorrow.
