GOD BLESS - THE MERRY MONK!

A very friendly pub on the outskirts of Taunton, where they kindly let me park the minibus for the day and supplied an excellent pint of Butcombe at the end!
Caught the bus to Bridgwater (free bus passes for over 60s are very useful) and walked to the Merry Monk - about 7 miles.  Slightly revised my opinion of Bridgwater, having now walked through the middle, where there is a pleasant precinct and a pretty church.  Then, to put it simply, it was a slog along the A38 all the way - the one advantage being a roadside snack bar, about half way, that did a superb bacon butty and mug of tea!
Weather fine - sunny with the odd light shower. Lucky me! I hear it's been horrendous elsewhere. However, I'm also told it's moving this way again. Let's hope for the best! Through Taunton and towards Wellington tomorrow.
